Power Battle: 2018 BMW M5 vs. Mercedes-AMG E63 S

Read Time:1 Minute, 53 Second

We don’t have the chance of seeing an exclusive battle of raw power between two exquisite models all the time. In this case you are looking at a rivalry that will perhaps last for a lifetime – the 2018 BMW M5 versus the Mercedes-AMG E63 S.

Both models are equally-matched from a performance perspective, coming with rather the same sizes and impressive mechanics and technology. Not to mention the mind-blowing braking system and acceleration from standstill.

CarWow auto magazine has gathered both the luxury saloons in “Drag Race, Rolling Race & Brake Test”, as the video below is called. Evidently, we won`t reveal the result until comparing the cars` power and performance. In fact, we won`t reveal it at all, and let you bet your money on the best one.

To start with the 2018 BMW M5, the model uses a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 versus the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine in the Mercedes-AMG. We are looking here at 600 PS and 750 Nm of torque against 612 PS and 850 Nm of torque. The Merc is a tad more powerful than the M5. Even so, the slight output might be just enough to destroy the BMW M5 in a straight line battle.

Besides the 0 to 100 km/h drag race, both contenders` brakes were also tested out at 112 km/h, with the result being also highlighted in the video below. And for that part, you might be in for a big surprise, as the driver of the E63 S model seemed to have hit the pedal too soon.

This is an interesting video to watch, as it refers to two of the most powerful luxury saloon available on the market today. That might change once the all-new 2019 Audi RS6 will be officially unveiled next year with mighty power as well – according to reports, we are likely to see 605 horsepower. In that case, you`d be more than glad to see a trio running down the tracks.

Until that happens, let`s stick to this gorgeous test between the 2018 BMW M5 and all-new Mercedes-AMG E63 S! Don’t forget to tell us which you bet your money on!
