This Is Alpina`s 2018 D5 S – Video Revealed
It may not be the all-new 2018 BMW M5, but it is Alpina`s ultimate iteration in terms of exquisite looks and sheer performance under the hood – it is the 2018 D5 S, recently unveiled by BMW`s hardcore division in details and video below.
There are a lot of qualities that makes an Alpina stand-out from the crowd, and the new 2018 D5 S, in both the sedan and touring forms, has all it takes to perfectly replace the M5, not to mention that it comes cheaper and proves to be extremely rigid, high-performance in terms of driving capabilities and fit for all road conditions.
Visually, it still keeps Alpina`s design language, coming with sporty bumpers, bespoke front and rear spoilers, one-off tailpipes, and completing the scenery with the same unforgettable Alpina alloy wheels.
Other distinguishable elements refer to Alpina logos and stripes. The cabin complements the exterior with plenty of high-end materials, adding the latest high-tech gadgetries – full colour digital instrument panel in LED as standard.
In the engine department, the 2018 Alpina D5 S is quite a stud, demonstrating its raw power thanks to a 3.0-liter straight-six cylinder diesel engine with two-stage turbo charging and common rail high-pressure direct injection.
This means that the new D5 S, in the sedan form, is capable of churning out 388 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque, which for a diesel is quite amazing. That also translates in a 4.4-second run from 0 to 100 km/h, at a top speed of 286 km/h.
Despite the impressive power and torque, the 2018 Alpina D5 sedan S is quite fuel-efficient, managing just 6.6l/100 km and 174 g/km CO2. On the other hand, the touring runs from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, at a top speed of 283 km/h, while the consumption stands at 6.9l/100 km.
