I have always wanted to test out the piece of technology built up by BMW, the almighty BMW i8, but since I don’t have the right possibilities nor the cash to do it, I thought that a simple video with the BMW i8 reaching a great 254 km/h might cheer you up for the moment.
We have to remind you that we are dealing here with a plug-in hybrid model, meaning that we are automatically inclined to believe that it could not reach high speeds. Well guys, this was a decade ago, as the new performance technology that BMW is using, is purely amazing.
Well, the BMW i8 plug-in hybrid is using an electric drive system, thanks to the BMW eDrive technology, backed by a conventional 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder TwinPower Turbo petrol unit, which goes as far as 231 horsepower and sends the power to the rear wheels.
On the other hand, the electric motor provides an additional huge 131 horsepower to the front wheels, allowing a driving range of 35 kilometers. Even if the topping of the electric drive mode is 120 km/h, this BMW i8 has used its full potential and managed to run all the way until reaching an impressive 254 km/h. Enjoy the video!
