2015 BMW i3 Now Available from $43,350 in the United States
The BMW German based carmaker has announced that the 2015 i3 electric car will come with an increased price in the United States, both for the standard i3 as well as for the i3 REx, even if no performance changes were announced. But how come the high pricing?
First off, the 2015 BMW i3 will cost $43,350 as opposed to $41,350, meaning a $1,050 raise, while the 2015 BMW i3 REx is now set at $47,200, compared to the last year`s price of $46,125.
The price raise was first set due to the higher destination and handling fees, which now stands at $950 for both models. Another reason for the higher price would be the reported “new software update” that might bring some important changes in the car`s performance and drivability.
Other than that, both models will come with the same motorizations, meaning an electric motor on the standard electric car, which is backed by a 22-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery. The model develops a good 170 horsepower and 184 Nm of torque, and has an 81 mile range.
The 2015 BMW i3 REx will be equipped with the same 650-cc two-cylinder gasoline unit, backed by an electric motor, but will come with a higher mile range of 150 miles, as opposed to the all-electric version.
BMW and Volkswagen have recently partnered ChargePoint to develop and build around 100 fast charging points for EVs, all over the United States.
