BMW i8 Spyder Concept images leaked online
Not tired of bashing the BMW i8 eco-friendly supercar yet? Don’t worry, the Bavarians plan to make a convertible version for that purpose alone.
Well, that might not be entirely accurate but there’s a big point to be made about these pictures. After a bit of talk about them being fake, it turns out they are real.

BMW is actually well at work on the i8 Spyder and this Concept is just a proper occasion for the eco-nuts to go crazy over.
You’ll have yourself a high performing car, that’s enjoyable to drive but it’s friendly to the environment it’s bringing you closer to.
If you think about that the BMW i8 Spyder Concept is quite poetic. So if that’s a little to weak for you let’s focus on the petrolhead stuff.

There rotating doors are nearly as impressive as the scissor ones on the high end Lamborghini models.
The power though won’t be on par with the Italian supercar. Forget big naturally aspirated V12s and open up to the word green before gas.
A 1.5 liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine develops a “whopping” 220 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. The good thing is that it sends its power to the rear wheels.

The front wheels aren’t going to be happy with just steering the i8 Spyder Concept but will instead be powered as well. Not in an old fashioned all wheel drive way but thanks to a couple of electric motors.
As it stands, we’re going to see more photos and a few more details of the BMW i8 drop top at the upcoming Beijing Motor Show.
