BMW officially introduces the new 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo unit to the U.S. this year

Shortly after we talked about the new 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo engine, the Germans from BMW officially announce that the unit in question comes to the U.S. market later this year and replaces the naturally aspirated 3.0-liter six-cylinder propeller.

The new 2.0-liter turbo engine develops around 245 horsepower and the Germans say that it’s a good replacement to the 3.0-liter engine already equipping the a wide range of models such as the 328i, 528i, X3, Z4 or the smaller 128i Coupe.

The new engine proposed by the Germans packs the high-pressure direct-injection system with a Valvetronic intake control but more about the engine’s specifications you can find in the article mentioned above. Regarding the models which will adopt the new 2.0-liter unit, there is most likely to be the same ones we told you, the models which equips the 3.0-liter engine, at least a major part of them. According to the Germans, the new 2.0-liter engine is an optimized version and offers a better fuel consumption.
