If you are a hot-shot, businessman, journalist or just an ordinary guy owing a BMW, then you should take it out on Autobahn for a fast spin.

At least this what Conan O`Brian did, a famous American TV presenter, when it came to Germany: it took the BMW i8 and wanted to have some fun on the well-known “German Mecca of Speed.” The whole deal was recorded in the video below, called: “Conan`s Fast & Furious Autobahn Adventure.”

And indeed, driving on Autobahn at high speeds can be sometimes more than an adventure, but the thrill of driving such an exquisite German engineering cuts off the fears that something might go wrong.

Of course, Conan couldn’t be alone in this Autobahn quest and had a BMW instructor by his side, who filled him in on how he should drive such a fast and powerful model on the German`s high-speed motorway.

With help standing by his side, Conan took matter into his own hands and took advantage of the car`s impressive 357 horsepower to speed up to 230 km/h, while delivering the wildest screams. Of course, that was the time when adrenaline kicked off. But you`d better hit the play button and enjoy the fun video!

As a reminder, the BMW i8 kicked-off at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show and is currently built at the carmaker`s plant in Leipzig, Germany, coming with a 7.1 kWh lithium-ion battery pack “with a usable capacity of 5.2 kWh”, providing an electric range of 37 km.

The BMW i8 plug-in hybrid has a total output of 357 horsepower (266 kW) and 570 Nm (420 lb-ft) of torque. The model is also extremely fuel-efficient, coming with around 2.1L / 100 km, while the CO2 emissions stand at 49 g/km.

Even if the upcoming F90 BMW M5 has been already rumored, shot down in different areas in the United States or Europe`s Nurburgring, we have our own exclusive shots with the model while undergoing tests on Autobahn, just outside Munich.

The exclusive spy photos were sent by one of our fine readers who happens to love the model so bad that he promised he would sent new samples with the model. And so he did.

The spy photos were taken yesterday (November 16, 2016) and are showcasing the upcoming 2018 F90 BMW M5 sedan wearing the same camouflage around the body, which clearly indicates that the model is far from its final shape. Even so, we can depict the new styling bits that it will come with.

From the start, the model promises to be beautiful…actually more beautiful and appealing than ever, with its exquisite curves and sporty touches from top to bottom. More than that, it will borrow an aggressive look from the newly unveiled G30 5-Series and add its own M parts, only that it will be more powerful under the hood.

In terms of styling, the car`s main highlights refer to the new kidney grille and LED headlights, sporty hood, aero flicks on the front of the wheel arches, while the rear-end stands-out from the crowd with the twin double pipes and flared wheel-arches.

The exterior design also indicates that the model is going to be extremely powerful, especially the rear end, with the sports exhaust system with butterfly valves opening up. Even if unconfirmed, there are plenty of reports to give us an insight on the car`s powertrain.

So, we might think of a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, which is the same found on the 550i, but with indication of a new power configuration. Let`s say somewhere between 600 and 650 horsepower, paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, being sent to the rear axle via an Active M Differential. On top of that, the model will also get an xDrive all-wheel sibling, which would compete against the newcomer W213 Mercedes-AMG E63.

Presuming heading to the 2017 Geneva Motor Show for an official debut, the all-new 2018 F90 BMW M5 will be competing against the likes from the aforementioned AMG E63 or the new Porsche Panamera. As for the prices, the model is said to come with a tag of at least €150,000, if you decide to have it with optional goodies, like carbon fiber roof, trunk or ceramic brakes. The BMW 8-Series is coming, and is coming in style, as the spied photos released by bimmertoday below suggest. No more renderings, previews and rumors, the test mule is here in flash, revealing its body styling in full, even if it is all covered in camouflage.

Just as expected, the 2018 BMW 8-Series will be a gorgeous and luxurious two-door coupe, longer than always and extremely aggressive. And the luxurious lines are highlighted by the car`s high-class roofline, Hoffmeister Kink, new rear roofline as well as the greenhouse.

However, the real identity of the model is well-concealed, so we have to be quite reserve about the upcoming design, without getting too excited about it. After all, we could be disappointed at a certain moment about the real styling.

No matter how it will look, it will look beautiful, aggressive and ready to make a good impression; perhaps the best impression after the unveiling of the 2018 X2 Concept, another piece of German engineering. Elegance is also an attribute well-earned after decades of engineering.

In the engine department and judging from the test mules` nameplates, we could see a whole range of versions, like the 825, 830, 845 and so forth until the unveiling of a much more potent M850 and top of the line M8. The 850i is expected to come with a 4.0-liter V8 turbo mill with either a four- or a six-cylinder engine.

On the other hand, the future M8 would come with more than 600 horsepower onboard, all squeezed from a new 4.0-liter V8 engine. With the new power, the M8 would be capable to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 4.0 seconds.

Even if the Italian based Alfa Romeo released the Giulia`s top of the line QV as the main competitor of the BMW M3, it was eventually demonstrated that the sedan was too powerful than the German model, so instead, it turned its attention towards another potent model from BMW, the one-off M5.

The video below demonstrates how fast and powerful both cars are, each one showcasing its impressive acceleration, maximum of torque and eventually, sheer power. We are not going to spoil the surprise, you get to enjoy it later.

In order to understand both models and their high-end specs, we should take a look at their specs.

The F10 BMW M5 comes with a massive 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, developing 560 horsepower and 680 Nm of torque, the massive BMW managing a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds, at a topping of 250 km/h. The engine is also hooked to a seven-speed DCT transmission.

On the other hand, the Alfa Romeo Giulia QV is sleeker yet extremely aggressive with its aerodynamic design, the Italian model packing a smaller 2.9-liter V6 turbo engine, with 510 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque, with a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h delivered in 3.9 seconds. The top speed stands at 250 km/h.

So we have two powerful models, the M5 with bigger power and torque than the QV, yet being visibly massive as opposed to the sleek Italian high-end version. The fast BMW M6 Gran Coupe was recently caught on camera, while hitting the astonishing 300 km/h on the limitless Autobahn, in Germany.

With the M6 Gran Coupe model being introduced a few years ago, the four-door coupe has succeeded reaching 300 km/h due to its M Driver`s Package and the M Carbon Ceramic Brakes.

It is also our duty to be a reminder that the BMW M6 Gran Coupe is equipped with the same unit found on its restless younger brothers as well, the M6 Coupe and the M6 Cabrio.

We are talking about a 4.4-liter V8 engine, developing an impressive 560 horses and 680 Nm peak of torque. The unit is hooked to the already famous M double clutch seven-speed transmission.

The BMW M6 Gran Coupe also comes with a rear-wheel drive system, being able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h sprint in just 4.2 seconds.

Upgrades were done to this one being caught on camera, as the M6 Gran Coupe was able to hit 300 km/h, instead of the standard top speed limit at 250 km/h.

The F10 BMW chassis has recently had its second major accident. Whereas last time an M5 starred in the game and the passengers survived, this time things were less encouraging by the end.

It was an F10 5 Series prototype (most likely one with some sort of new hybrid tech on board) that was being put through its paces on the Autobahn.

Behind the wheel sat one of BMW’s test drivers, a very experienced chap who’s 45 years old. Unfortunately, not even his experience could help.

As he was pushing the hybrid 5 Series to its limit on the A92 near BMW’s Dingolfing factory a truck pulled out in front of him making impact inevitable.

Sadly, due to the high contact speed, the F10 BMW 5 Series car that was tested hit the rear trailer and effectively destroyed itself.

We’re guessing BMW won’t be selling anything off this car since there doesn’t appear to be anything worth saving from it after the incident.

The follow-up is horrendous, the 45 year old test driver is assumed to have died on impact. After the crash the highway was closed off for a few hours.

According to the authorities, total damages resulted from the situation amount to some 120.000 euros (155.000 USD). This was pretty easy to evaluate but the investigation will take an extra while.

German highway policemen like to be thorough and it’s tricky to determine exactly who’s fault it is. Not that we’re biased, but it seems hard to believe it would be the test driver’s fault.

Not everything about the F10 BMW M5 is great news. After joyous reviews, immense happiness and remarkable performance we’re put in touch with the dark side of this car.

A new bit of news about is sad, borderline on tragic really as the first ever major accident involving one of these sport sedans.

It happened on the Autobahn, at tremendous speed and ended with two people seriously injured and a completely ruined BMW M5.

The incident occurred as the driver was going along at a speed of 186 mph and he had to swerve in order to avoid another motorist.

Thus, he hit the lane divider, was thrown back out of it, sent rolling over several times and eventually came to a halt on the grass just outside the Autobahn.

It is remarkable that under these conditions a 60 year old driver and a 20 year old passenger both survived. Naturally, they’re seriously injured but the important thing is that they’re alive.

Part of their survival is due to the great design and engineering that went into the road network in Germany and the passenger cell of the M5 and part of it is due to the conditions.

The F10 BMW M5’s driver was followed by two of his sons, one drove a BMW M6 and the other drove an M3. I wonder what’s the family’s favorite brand.

Both arrived on sight very fast and after the whole thing and used a fire extinguisher to control further damage and immediately called the authorities.

Sadly, the driver that made the mistake of getting in the way at such speeds has fled the scene of the accident and he’s yet to be identified.

With the F30 BMW 3 Series out on the market, fans of the Bavarian company are now split into two categories; those that buy one and those that wait for the M3.

Those who fall into the latter category might be interested in a couple of videos about the F30 BMW M3 that recently surfaced online.

These two videos were taken as a BMW 1 Series M Coupe was chasing the still camouflaged M3 on the Autobahn.

Since this is the Autobahn, you know that speed limits aren’t a problem for these two performance beasts but things go even further than that.

The chasing 1 Series M Coupe which holds the camera that feeds our addiction has had its engine tuned up to 420 horsepower.

That’s more than the previous edition M3 and is just under the currently estimated 450 horsepower of the F30 BMW M3. Even so keeping up with the spied vehicle isn’t easy.

You can clearly see some of the acceleration moments where the bigger, heavier F30 BMW M3 is clearly pulling ahead.

Relatively heavy traffic keeps these cars from pressing the pedals as deep into the carpet as we’d like but since most of the video is filmed above 3500 rpm, you can’t exactly say they were out for a stroll.

It’s the first time we can get a perspective on the sort of speed the F30 BMW M3 can manage and while we’re pretty impressed with what it can do in a straight line, we’re still loaded with questions for the company.

Germany is home to the Autobahn, some of the best feats of car engineering on the planet and one of the “greenest” countries in the world.

In keeping of that last aspect, the German government has announced that they are hoping to get one million electric vehicles on the country’s roads by 2020.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel will be meeting top executives of the country’s main automakers and energy companies in Berlin to launch a new initiative to develop electric vehicles. This plan will bear the insignia of the “national platform for electric mobility” and is destined to reach the fabled million in under a decade.

This platform and the eco-minded thinking behind it fits BMW’s efficient dynamics politics and first to show his support for the idea on behalf of the automakers is BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer who stated that the bavarians are ready and well positioned to become a technology leader in the market .

BMW’s hybrid developments so far aren’t probably going to get all these great numbers in sales up so quickly which is why the company has announced it will be relying mostly on cars that will be developed from the BMW ActiveE Concept.

The BMW ActiveE is based on the current BMW 1-Series that has a rear mounted electric motor and a battery setup similar to what you would get in a Tesla Roadster. As always with BMW the performance isn’t one to disappoint even though the main purpose of the car is ecology and the zero emissions factor as the car is completely electric.
