BMW 4-Series convertible spy shots show less camo

The BMW 4 Series continues the legacy of the 3 Series while also allowing the German car maker to better differentiate its vehicle range.

The 4 Series convertible has been seen again by diligent photographers and this time more camouflage has been shed.

The main thing we can now see clearly is the three piece retractable roof. In fact, most of the top half of the car is now camo free and ready for scrutiny. Although still under camouflage, the front and back end, complete with head and tail lights seem to be in their final form, ready for production.

BMW M1 auctioned off

A while back BMW decided to build a competitor for the supercars that where the dream of every young boy.

Out of the project the BMW M1 was born, the only supercar constructed by the German car maker. And although it didn’t get quite as big as the Lamborghini, it has earned its place in automotive history.

Only 456 units of the BMW M1 were ever built, of which only 399 being street legal, with the other 57 coming out the assembly line prepped for racing. The M1 was built from 1978 to 1981 and it was a beast on the road, worthy to take on the supercars of the day.

Competition Package for the 2014 F10 BMW M5

With just a few more months until the facelifted version for the F10 BMW M5 hits the market, the M division of the German car maker stepped up its game.

They came through with the announcement of a new optional Competition Package to spice things up.

The main improvement this package brings to the F10 BMW M5 is an increase in power by 15 Hp. This means that the power house under the hood, a 4.4 liter turbocharged engine equiped with a BMW M TwinPower Turbo, is on the 580 Hp mark, while torque was raised to 680 Nm. These numbers are accessible as low as 1500 rpm.

New Alpina 6 Series GranCoupe spied

It seems that the German specialists at Alpina are preparing their own take on the new 6 Series GranCoupe, a model which will join the freshly introduced B3 and XD3.

Under the bonnet, we expect to find a 4.4-liter V8 engine capable to deliver 540 horsepower. The base model for the new Alpina 6 Series GranCoupe will be the 650i which offers 450 horses, therefore, Alpina will provide a power hike of 90 horsepower.

In terms of styling, we should expect a new set of alloy wheels, a revised front spoiler lip, new quad-pipe exhaust system and a rear spoiler.

Come July, BMW will start taking orders for the i3

It will only be three more months until you can place an order for your very own BMW i3, so sit tight and be patient a little bit longer.

At the end of July, BMW will open the books for its electric city vehicle.

And you will have two models to choose from. The first is powered only by an electric motor and will have a range of up to 160 km. It will also fetch the sum of 53.300 USD. On the other hand, if you opt for the BMW i3 fitted with the range extender, you should be prepared to part with 57.800 USD. The extra money translates into a range of 300 km.

New photos of the BMW X4 released

Before the official unveiling at the Shanghai Auto Show, BMW slowly leaks information on the X4 concept. Based on the BMW X3 platform, this new model in the range is closer to the styling of an X6.

While no numbers were released so far, BMW did graciously provide more pictures for those of us in need of more information.

BMW i8 spied at Nurburgring

The diligent spies of the industry have caught the new BMW i8 testing on the Nurburgring.

Clad in camouflage, its presence here can only mean one thing: the i8 is pretty much production ready and needs fine tuning.

The BMW i8 will be using a hybrid system to get its power. This consists of BMW’s new 1.5 liter, three cylinder turbocharged engine placed at the back and an electric motor at the front. The gasoline engine alone is good for about 220 Hp and 300 Nm of torque, but coupled with the electric motor, the power spikes up to 400 Hp an 550 Nm torque.

2014 BMW M5 spied outside Nürburgring

BMW is preparing to refresh the 5 Series range with a facelift treatment later this year. We’ve seen spy photos for the Sedan, Touring and GT, this time the high-performance M model being in the spotlight.

You should not expect any major styling improvements, BMW opting to revise the optical blocks, front grille and rear bumper. Power will be provided by the same 4.4-liter V8 powerplant capable to produce 560 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque.

BMW i3 Coupe and MPV might make an appearance

With the new BMW i3 well under way, it seems that the German car maker might be considering making a Coupe and MPV version.

Although a Coupe might be a next logical step for the BMW i3, fact remains that the normal version of the vehicle hasn’t even shed all of its camo yet.
