New automatic eight-speed ZF transmission for M5 F10

Expected to debut either as a concept or production-ready model at the Geneva Motor Show this year, the performance version of the current 5 Series F10 generation will be fitted with a new ZF eight-speed automatic transmission.

The Germans from BMW decided to fit the new M5 F10 with an automatic transmission from ZF, dropping the DCT seven-speed gearbox because there are some chances for the DCT to not be able to handle the power properly. The new M5 F10 will be available with the 4.4-liter twin-scroll delivering 555-horsepower and 718 Nm of torque. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h will be achieved in about 4,4 seconds.

BMW brings Performance Package at 2011 Geneva Motor Show

Shortly after the Geneva Motor Show where the Performance Package will be fully revealed, you will be able to order an upgrade kit for your 1 Series or 3 Series, a kit which consists of few mechanical improvements that will finally result into more horsepower amount and also a better sprint.

For the beginning, BMW will offer the Performance Package for the 120d and 320d, extra 20 horsepower and 40 Nm of torque being delivered by the 2.0-liter engine which offers in standard 177 horses, if we talk about the 1 Series.

Today, a new video starring the new concept is available, a video from where we can see mainly what the official photos show, nothing special indeed. In the new video the concept is still but we can see more clearly some interesting features such as the futuristic interior, the new instrument panel and more.

BMW ActiveE electric vehicle comes as Geneva Motor Show

We recently announced that BMW decided to unveil the new 6 Series Coupe (F12) at the Shanghai Auto Show, an important decision considering that the new model will debut in China and not in Europe. BMW introduces new features for X5 and X6 topping with new rear seat

BMW recently announced few new features which will be available for the X5 and X6 starting this spring. BMW Vision ConnectedDrive Concept officially revealed

Early this year BMW published a teaser video with the ConnectedDrive concept, a prototype which will be revealed within the Geneva Motor Show alongside other new models in range. At that time we were not able to see too much details about the new ConnectedDrive concept but now we got an official photo gallery.

At the exterior we see the aggressive sloping hood, headlamps fitted with angel eyes, a more prominent grille and large air intakes in the front bumper.

Rumors: BMW to reveal at Geneva a so-called Z2 Concept

We already stated that BMW won’t reveal the new M5 generation at Geneva and we have to wait few more months for the Frankfurt Auto Show where the new performance model is expected to be introduced. However, the Bavarians might unveil a new concept, called Z2 Concept, a prototype which wants to foreshadow a new cadet in the Z range of the Germans.

At the same European auto show, at Geneva, we should find if there will be any series model based on this concept to enter the range because some sources claim that this is just a design study. The same rumors tell us that the Z2 Concept will revive the famous doors found on BMW Z1.

BMW production-ready M5 Concept comes at Shanghai Auto Show

In approximately two months since now, the Germans from BMW will unveil a concept version of the incoming M5 generation, a prototype which is in fact very very close to the series model if not exactly the same. BMW decided to bring the BMW M5 F10 at the Shanghai Auto Show, ahead of any major European automotive event.

They called it M5 Concept but there is very likely to be just the name as according to the available details the prototype which will be displayed in China will be almost the same as the production version.

BMW clears the rumors regarding possible Fiat partnership

The Germans from BMW, more exactly, Friedrich Eichiner, the financial director of BMW firmly stated that there is not any partnership between the German group and Fiat and they are not interested to buy this brand or something like this.

According to some rumors, the future Mini models should share a Fiat platform but these assumptions were denied by the Germans, claiming that there would be too much differences if a new platform would be used. In the same time, Friedrich Eichiner stated that in the development process of BMW’s Isetta Fiat had no role as few assumed.

BMW picks Shanghai to unveil the 6 Series Coupe (F12)
