March 7th – Historical day for BMW

Are you wondering why March 7th is a historical day for BMW? If you are a fan of the brand, you should know. But if you don’t know it’s okay, we’ll explain why. First of all, and the most important thing which happened in March 7th is the union of Karl Rapp and Gustav Otto, which led to the genesis of BMW.

In March 7, 1916 – Karl Rapp and Gustav Otto, are joining the two companies, from the merger resulting Flugzeugwerke AG Bayerische (Bavarian Aircraft Works). Later, the company became Bayerische Motoren Werke, but the BMW‘s date of birth is recorded in March 7, 1916.

BMW S1000RR pulling the tablecloth

Here is another cool video from BMW that I am going to talk about and I hope you also like this video as much as I do. I like the fact that it is made with that “BMW smell” or probably because of the professionalism that they proved by making this cool video.

Anyway, in this video, the professionalism is not the single thing that they are proving, they also prove the performances of BMW S1000RR. I mean think about it, how cool can be the sprint of this motorcycle from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.9 seconds? This video really shows us that acceleration.

BMW 135is will be the powerful 1-Series

A source from BMW said that the sports version of the 135i will bear the name 135is, not M1. The model is expected to begin this autumn.

As you know, the Motorsport division of BMW is working on a sports version of the 1-Series coupe. It will be turbocharged and is based on the 135i. Although rumors first announced that the new model will be called M1, it seems that Bavarians from BMW will designate it 135is, in a similar manner with the new BMW 335is launched in the United States of America and the Z4 sDrive35is.

Spy photos with the 2011 BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase Sedan

I must say that there have passed a while from when I talked last time about a 5 Series built by BMW. Here we got some spy photos while the 2011 BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase Sedan was being tested on winter time as you can see in the spy photos that I have uploaded in this post.

We know that this 2011 BMW 5 Series Long Wheelbase Sedan will come with a 3.0 liter six-cylinder engine which may be considered a big engine but there will also be a 4.4 liter V8 turbocharged engine which is much more powerful than that one.

Rumors saying that there will be a BMW 135is instead of BMW M1

I know that we have talked few times about BMW M1 and you were probably waiting that car to be released or to hear some news about it but as you can see what I wrote in the title, the BMW M1 was replaced by BMW 135is. I don’t think that the name of the car is so important, the important thing is the performance of the car.

The rumors are also saying that this BMW 135is is going to come with a twin-turbo six engine which will develop somewhere around 320 horsepower and a maximum torque of 332 pound-feet.

Teaser video with BMW at the Geneva Auto Show

I have to say that I skipped this video, but at the same time, there were few people talking about it but now I saw it and I would like to share it with you and at the same time to say few words about it.

I want to say at the beginning that the video is cool but it could be much cooler if they would do as they usually make their videos, I mean in a very professional way, it would be better, I think that this video was made in a very short time so they didn’t have time for it.

BMW 5-Series GT by AC Schnitzer presented at Geneva

AC Schnitzer presented at Geneva the modifications brought to BMW 5-Series GT. It received a number of design and interior changes, the mechanics being less important for the German tuner.

German tuner AC Schnitzer has presented at the Geneva Motor Show an own vision of BMW 5-Series GT. They have not focused on engine modifications, the top priority for the tuner being the exterior and interior design. The model used by AC Schnitzer has a 3.0 liter diesel engine which after small modifications produces 286 horsepower, with 41 horsepower more than the series version.

Talking about the details of this BMW X6 M by Expression Motorsport, it comes with a new front bumper with LED indicators and directional fog lights as can be seen in the main photo, new rear bumper, a carbon rear diffuser and a F1 brake light.
