It seems that today Nurburgring is the keyword as we got new spy photos caught on the famous German circuit, this time with the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe, a model which was caught on tape few days ago while undergoing tests in Germany. The four-door coupe model is scheduled to make its debut in late 2012 or somewhere in 2013, the new body style of the 6 Series sharing the same wheelbase dimension with the current 5 Series while still coming with a B-pillar but frameless windows.
Here are some spy photos with the M version of the BMW X6 while the German engineers were testing the model which is supposed to pack a new diesel engine. Few days ago, Brian Watts, BMW M Manager confirmed that the German company is looking forward to introduce a diesel engine in the range of the X6 M. We got no confirmation that the model in these photos is actually a diesel-powered X6 but judging by the new hood, we think that it might be.
The American department of BMW decided to publish a new video with the M5 F10, this time the German model lapping the Laguna Seca circuit from California. Under the bonnet, the M model based on the current-generation 5 Series packs a 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbo engine developing 560 horsepower and 680 Nm of torque. Mated to a seven-speed Double Clutch Transmission, the German model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,4 seconds hitting a top speed of 250 km/h.
It seems that the Germans from BMW have no plans to bring the new X1 to the U.S. market very soon. According to the official details, BMW won’t introduce the new X1 in the U.S. very soon as there is a high demand in Europe for this model. Moreover, they say that the euro-dollar exchange rate is another setback and even the model could be a success in the States, there is still difficult to take a decision.
BMW North America stated at Monterey that the new X1 is currently a very popular model in Europe bringing unrespectable good sales. Bringing the model in the United States would be a difficult task as the factories are already having a hard time keeping with the demand.
As you probably know, the current generation Z4 will drop the 3.0-liter straight-six unit found under the bonnet of the sDrive30i in favor of a new 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The new BMW Z4 sDrive28i will debut this fall and as mentioned above, it will feature a new twin-scroll 2.0-liter engine able to deliver 240 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 352 Nm of torque at 1,250 rpm. BMW admits that the new N20 engine is not that powerful as the famous straight-six it replaces but the Germans also claim that the new four-cylinder unit returns an improved fuel economy along more responsive reactions.
