2014 BMW M3 (F30) spied for the first time

The Germans from BMW started testing the new M3 (F30), a model scheduled to be introduced in late 2013 and go on sale somewhere in 2014. The spy photographers caught the next-generation M3 sedan during tests on the German roads, also reporting that under the bonnet sits a new tri-turbo unit developed by BMW. The new six-cylinder 3.2-liter engine is rumored to develop somewhere around 450 horsepower.

As mentioned above, these are the first spy photos where the new BMW M3 is present, the Germans starting the tests for the new M model even there are still around two years until its debut. As expected, the new M3 sports the standard M components such as the front and rear bumpers, wider wheel arches, a larger braking system and the dual exhaust system.

BMW 8 Series

The BMW 8 Series is a luxury 2 door coupe produced since 1989 and is the successor of the BMW 6 Series E24. It was one of the most memorable and unique BMW and was manufactured in 30,621 units until 1999 when the production was finished.
The BMW 8 series is codenamed E31 and was conceived as a new proposal with a higher value which was addressed to a different market segment of the 6 Series. As we all know, the BMW 8 Series were powered with V8 and V12 engines.

BMW 7 Series

The BMW 7 Series’ codenames are the following: E23, E32, E38, E65/E66 and F01/F02.

All E23 BMW 7 Series models (with the exception of the 745i) were constructed with 12 valves M30 six-cylinder type, as used in the E3 and higher as E9. Although most E23 engines to direct fuel inyeción two models (728 and 730) has a four carburetors until 1979, when fuel injection is replaced by the 728i.

BMW E32 is the second generation for the BMW 7 Series was introduced in 1987 and had 730i and 735i with a 3.0 L engine, 3.5 L 6-cylinder in line, respectively a new 5.0 liters engine which delivers 300 hp (220 kW) and a V12 engine for the 750i. In 1992, the engines of 3.0 L and 4.0 L V8 were added to the range (730i and 740i). All models also had a version of “L” (long), which had more than 10 inches of legroom for rear seat passengers.

BMW 7 Series

The E38 7 Series was introduced in 1995 and remained on sale until 2001. It was available in both short and long body. As for transmissions, in Europe the manual gearbox 5-speed was standard on all versions except for the BMW 740iL, BMW 740d and BMW 750i/iL, available to a gearbox 5-speed automatic, optional for other versions.

BMW 7 Series

The BMW 7 Series E65/E66 was available in four different platforms: the E65 with the normal wheelbase, the extended-wheelbase E66, the High safety E67 version and the version of the E68 hydrogen. The E65/E66/E67/E68 BMW 7 Series iDrive system offered the first consisting of a video screen on the dashboard and a control unit mounted on the center console that is used much like a computer mouse.

BMW plans to offer a car using gasoline and hydrogen, to be called the BMW 7 Series Hydrogen. Drivers can switch fuel at the touch of a button. However, only 100 units were built so far is a limited edition.

The new BMW 7 Series F01/F02 was introduced in 2009. All models have a 6-speed ZF transmission. Five variants are presented, the 750Li, the 740Li, the 750i, the 740i and 730d.

BMW almost confirms the new M550dX

I really don’t know if this is good or bad news but it seems that BMW is truly developing a diesel version of the new M5 F10 while an all-wheel drive version could be in works too. According to the first details, the new BMW M550dX will be powered by a tri-turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine able to reduce the fuel consumption while the power amount will be slightly decreased over the gasoline V8 unit, which means fewer than 560 horses.

The new BMW M5 diesel model will benefit from BMW’s Valvetronic system, direct injection and revised cylinder head. A BMW insider confirmed that the M5 diesel is currently under developing, this being a crucial decision as BMW never offered a diesel M model before.

BMW 5 Series

The BMW 5 Series is the second most successful and selling model after the BMW 3 Series, it is an executive model produced since 1972 and is offered in two-variants: sedan and touring.

Before the appearance of the BMW 5 Series in 1972, BMW manufactured the BMW 1500 that was called The New Class appeared in 1961 and has great performances of that time.

BMW 6 Series

The BMW 6 Series is a grand tourer produced by German automaker BMW. It is based on the BMW 5 Series and as this is a luxury car large, available in coupe and convertible body styles. There are now two generations of the 6 Series, which were put on sale in 1976 and 2003, but in November 2010, BMW officially released the third generation, presenting a 650i convertible.

An abandoned BMW dealership found after 23 years

The people from a BMW dealership in Oakville recently reported that an abandoned building somewhere around the neighboring town of Ajax hides a former dealership with two legendary BMW models. Inside the abandoned building was sitting a BMW 635CSi (E24) along a 5 Series (E28), Citation Motors, the owner of the BMW dealership abandoning it in 1988. Citation Motors abandoned the building in late 1980s as they lost the license to sell BMW models and moved to Toronto.

At that time, the dealership was given to a German businessman but it was abandoned for unknown reasons. The models in question were unused for more than 20 years but they still look like brand-new.

BMW reveals the updates for 2012MY X5

BMW decided to release details on the new model year X5, a model which won’t receive significant improvements, only few additions such as new exterior finishes and extra equipment. To begin with, BMW will offer a new Citrine Black Metallic finish, new trim and the M leather steering wheel with gearshift paddles for the X5 Sport Package. The 2012 BMW X5 will receive the Exclusive Edition as well, the special models coming with unique features such as 20-inch alloy wheels, front door sill engraved with the logo and the Platinum Bronze Metallic paint.

Besides the minor styling improvements, the Bavarians plan to fit the X5 xDrive30d with the BluePerformance technology able to significantly reduce the CO2 emissions, making the model eligible to the Euro 6 standards.

BMW 3 Series

The BMW 3 Series take part of the compact cars and is the most appreciated BMW by the customers because of its good reliability. In a study done in 2005 it shows that the BMW 3 Series is the best selling vehicle from BMW, namely 40% of BMW’ sales.

BMW is not wasting time and prepares the debut of the new 3 Series Touring, a model which is a must in the current range, rivals such as Audi A4 Avant and Mercedes C-Class Touring being ready to conquer the segment. The new BMW 3 Series Touring will be unveiled at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show in September while the model will enter the showrooms somewhere next year. This set of spy photos show the German family model with less camouflage, which means that is quite close to be revealed.

In terms of design, the next-gen 3 Series Touring will evolve in the same manner as the sedan version, borrowing design cues from other models in the range such as the new 5 Series.
