BMW recently announced that DesignworksUSA, the Californian design center, will take care of revising the San Francisco train system, one of the oldest in the country. The Bay Area Rapid Transit System (BART) is also on the fifth place in terms of dimensions with 44 stations, therefore, BMW’s American design team has a pretty difficult task. However, we have no reason to worry as BMW already redesigned the metro system of Warsaw, the capital of Poland, that time in partnership with Siemens.
“DesignworksUSA is invigorated to join BART in their continuing commitment to delivering a premium ridership experience,” says Laurenz Schaffer, President, BMW Group DesignworksUSA. “We are passionate about creating innovative solutions for mobility in increasingly dense urban centers such as the Bay Area, and we are excited as our collaborative partnership with BART gets underway,” Schaffer continues.

BMW, as you might have heard by now, is set to unveil a new four-door coupe as a direct competitor to the Audi A5 Sportback.
It will, in effect, be a 3 Series GT, based on the meatier 5 Series GT, with a different badge: the 4 Series. BMW will give it a distinctive coupe-like look and place it between the smaller 3 Series and the larger 5 Series, making it a perfect middle ground car for commuters and families alike.
Customers will have the option of owning the four-door motor with either two or three seats in the rear and will get a two-stage tailgate at the boot of the car.
The 4 Series is being touted as an alternative to the high-end 6 Series coupe, but will reportedly still be sold at a premium price by BMW.
We have got some really interesting news for all the BMW fans as the German brand is the third most popular in the world this year, defeated only by Apple and Google. Another interesting move in this ranking is between the first and the second place, Apple being able to defeat Google and take the lead with a RTB score of 202. The company from Mountain View managed to obtain 191 points while the German brand got 131 points, closely followed by Microsoft with 122, a decrease of one position to the fourth place.
The Germans from BMW recently announced that the new Performance Edition which initially was available only for the 335i is now going to enter the 1 Series range too. This new limited edition comes at a cost of $550 and mainly celebrates the production end of the current 3 Series range. The styling improvements brought by this package are few while the performance upgrades are also not very significant comparing to the high-sounding name of this limited edition.
“Performance breeds excitement and the BMW Performance Edition for the 2011 335i / xDrive Sedan ensures that new car buyers are in for that extra thrill beyond the outstanding performance that can already be realized with these exciting vehicles. Customers can now option their vehicles with a special BMW Performance Edition (option code ZMZ) that includes an all-new Power Kit, black kidney grilles and a “BMW Performance Edition” badge for only $550,” claims BMW.

The Asian market returned an increase of 47,3% in the first half of 2011 followed by the U.S. with 18,7% and Europe with 12,3%. Even these figures are nothing but great, BMW Group claims that the following six months should continue this increasing trend.
BMW’s Sales Chief Ian Robertson claimed that the second half of 2011 should bring a new increase in sales for the Chinese market, however not that significant as the increase of the first six months, which was somewhere around 60%.
