The Germans at BMW report good news for the new i3 as more than 8,000 reservations have been made so far. In this situation, they might increase the production rate as they expect to sell more than 10,000 vehicles annually.
Under the hood of the small model sits an electric motor producing 168 horsepower and 250Nm of torque.
The total driving range is estimated at a maximum of 160 kilometers but if you opt for the a two-cylinder engine which will act as a range extender.
“If demand holds, which is what it’s looking like, we will soon have to invest more,” says Friedrich Eichiner from BMW.
The new BMW i3 will hit the dealerships next month with prices starting from €34,950 in Germany. In the States, the new model will be priced from $41,350 and will arrive next year. Other markets such as China and Japan will also get similar availability and pricing as the United States.
