The electric vehicles market will soon be changed when BMW introduces the i3 town car and then the i8 sports car.
Or at least that is the general vibe about the electric Bimmers announced by the German car maker.
And while the i3 has seen plenty of media attention, the i8 has been more reclusive, catching only a bit of camera time. Even if there are already plenty of spy shots out there, this is the first time (that we know of) that the BMW i8 was caught using a right side steering wheel.
Caught in a charging station in Germany, the i8 even revealed a bit of its interior, thanks to a diligent photographer. The body is still clad in full camouflage, but even so the general styling lines are quite attractive. Under the hood, the i8 will be using a hybrid solution, comprised of a 1.5 liter, 3 cylinder engine coupled with an electric motor. Together the total power output is close to 390 Hp.
The BMW i8 will also be using the lightweight materials that the i3 is using, and that helps it reach 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.
