It’s been a while since we talked last time about a tuning package for the current X6 but today Lumma Design reveals a complete tuning program for the German crossover. The model picked by the specialists is the xDrive40d, the most powerful diesel in the range being equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged unit. Without any modifications, the diesel engine develops 306 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque. Thanks to a remapped ECU unit and a new high performance quad-pipe exhaust system, the German model offers 340 horses and 670 Nm of torque.
In conclusion, we talk about almost extra 40 horsepower squeezed from the six-cylinder engine without any major or complicated modifications, not very much but still a noteworthy detail.
Besides the additional power available under the bonnet, Lumma Design also offers a sport suspension able to reduce the ground clearance by 40 mm while the ride is significantly improved. Lumma Design saves weight by using lightweight materials such as carbon fiber for the additional components. Therefore, the new aerodynamic package consists of new front and rear bumpers, extended wheel arches, side skirts with air vents, a rear boot lid spoiler, LED lamps integrated into the front bumper and a blacked out grille.
If you look closely you will notice that the German tuners modified the front optical blocks as well as the side mirrors housing, the final piece completing the package being the 22-inch alloy wheels fitted with 295/30-22 (front) and 335/25-22 (rear) tires.
At the interior, Lumma Design decided to follow a recipe that is very unlike to fail by adding a two-color leather upholstery matching the exterior finish but also Alcantara, carbon fiber and aluminum trim. Other interior improvements include aluminum pedals, revised instruments but also new front and rear sport seats.
As this article it is about BMW tuning, we want to remind that you can send us information and photos (before/after) with your tuned BMW and we will review it on our blog. This is an interesting proposal for all the BMW fans and owners that modified their models. You can get more details about this initiative here.
