First BMW Electric Cars starting 2013

BMW announced that will enter the market in 2013 two electric models: ActiveE and Megacity. In this sense, the factory in Lepizig will focus exclusively on the production of electric vehicles. The ActiveE is based on 1-Series and Megacity apparently is a version of Isetta.

This decision was taken in the light of qualities offered by Germany: we tested production here, as well as high level of education, said president of BMW, Norbert Reithofer.

BMW X6 ActiveHybrid transmission system consists of a V8 petrol engine that develops 407 hp, with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and two synchronized electric motors, which provide 91 hp, 86 hp respectively, and the BMW 7-Series ActiveHybrid is the first car that combines a V8 petrol engine, the eight-speed automatic transmission and an electric engine.
