BMW presented the first images of the Z4′s competition version. The model develops 480 hp using a 4.0 liter V8 engine derived from that of the M3 and is equipped with a six-speed sequential transmission.
Germans at BMW have unveiled the official pictures and technical details of the competing versions of the Z4, which receives the suffix GT3. This model is based on the current generation BMW Z4 E89 and is equipped with the 4.0 liter V8 engine that is found on the M3 E92, modified to develop around 480 hp. The price of this model is 298,000 euros.
The V8 engine of this model is equipped with the ECU 408 unit, which helps to develop special performances and the other control devices are controlled by Power400 unit. BMW Z4 GT3′s transmission is a six-speed sequential and is developed for motorsport.
The first team to present the BMW Z4 GT3 competition model is Schubert Motorsport. The images attached to this article were made at Paul Ricard circuit, during preliminary tests to set the model of competition based on Z4. For now, those from BMW have not announced the possibility of launching a street version of this model, but this is not necessarily excluded, the best example being BMW M3 GT3 and its street version – M3 GTS.
