The new BMW M3 is more efficient, getting the Auto Start Stop Function. In combination with the new twin-clutch transmission, M3 reach to consume in average just 11.2 litres/100 km, despite the 420 horsepower under the hood. This is really effective!
Starting with spring 2010, BMW M3 will receive some of the benefits from the EfficientDynamics technologies package. Thus, the BMW M3 will be equipped with Auto Start Stop function, which automatically stops the engine when the car is stationary – with obvious benefits in congested urban traffic with frequent stops at traffic lights and traffic jams. Of course, the hit of acceleration restarts the engine immediately.
Auto Start Stop will be available with both 6-speed manual transmission and the new M Drivelogic transmission with 7-speed and double clutch. In the latter case, the consumption performance of the BMW M3 is almost incredible, with a value of just 11.2 litres/100 km for the average consumption (from 11.9 version without Auto Start Stop Function). If M3 convertible version, the consumption is slightly larger, 11.5 litres/100 km (but better with 0.7 than the version without Auto Start Stop Function).
