Here is the BMW 1 Series ActiveHybrid during tests in Munich! Spy shots are showing us a hybrid version of BMW’s 1-Series during the test stage organized around the city Munich. It is unclear if the specimen tested by BMW engineers is just a test chassis and powertrain, or is the version hybrid of the current generation of Series 1.
The only aesthetic difference between the hybrid version of BMW 1-Series and the standard model is in the inscriptions located on the rear windows, which display the message “Hybrid Test Vehicle”. Hybrid version of BMW 7-Series F01 was also surprised with such inscriptions several months ago and the result was the launching of the BMW ActiveHybrid 7. Besides the two hybrids that are already in range, BMW will develop hybrid versions of 3-Series and 5-Series models.
BMW may offer a hybrid version of Series 1 for the first generation, and also for the second generation, which is still in testing. This would provide a strong alternative for Lexus LF-Ch, which wants to hold lead on the premium segment of compact cars, dominated by the BMW 1-Series and Audi A3.
