BMW sales fall but remain on profit

The third quarter brought a significant decline for the Bavarian manufacturer, but managed to aggregate an operating profit of 55 million. BMW manages to keep afloat, even if from the begining of the year until the present total sales fell 10 to 15%.
Even so, the losses were considerable, BMW recorded in the last three months a 86% drop in profit compared to the same period of 2008. Norbert Reithofer, the president of BMW, said that profits in the third quarter is primarily due to measures taken to reduce costs. In addition, German chief expects sales to recover gradually after the launch in all markets of Europe 5-Series GT and X1 models.
In the first nine months of 2009, BMW Mini and Rolls Royce have recorded a combined sales decrease of 15.7 percent, the big three manufacturers managed to sell only 939,554 units. If we refer only to BMW, the Bavarian car division recorded operational losses of 358 million euros, managing to keep an operating profit of only 169 million.
