The biturbo diesel engine will be the first unit introduced in the range of 5 GT Series. This could be followed later by a cheaper version with four-cylinder, similar model used on 320d.
“We are considering the possibility of implementing a biturbo diesel unit, as we also consider the introduction of a four-cylinder engine in the range of 5 Series GT” said BMW product manager, Michelle Roberts. A final decision has not been taken yet, but this movement is based on motivation and on introducing a cheaper version of its 5 Series GT. What seems certain is that BMW has excluded the possibility of an M version of the model.
The GT can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 5.4 seconds. The BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo will make its North American debut at the South Florida International Auto Show October 23-November 1. Pricing will be announced closer to the on-sale date.
