Laurenz Schaffer Will Take BMW Design Department in California
Laurenz Schaffer will replace Verena Kloos on 1st December, at BMW Department of Design, California. Schaffer was part of BMW design team for 11 years and will be president of Designworks USA. Meanwhile, Kloos, who led Newbury Park since 2004, will be transferred to the department of design and advanced development in Munich.
Schaffer is a graduate of the Munich Technical College, department of industrial design and graduated from the Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich. Since 2000, Schaffer led the Munich branch of DesignworksUSA. From 2003 to 2006, was president of Division of Design BMW Group.
Prior to joining BMW in 1998, Schaffer was responsible for the industrial design department of Altensteig Frogdesign GmbH, Germany, and worked on projects for Siemens, Sony and Lufthansa. Schaffer has also worked as design manager and product development for BMW in San Francisco. Besides California and Germany, BMW has a design center in Singapore.
