Leipzig Plant Starts Production of BMW X1 [More Details & Photos]
BMW recently started production of the long-awaited X1 at the Leipzig plant in Germany, release date is set for 24 October. Leipzig plant build 730 vehicles every day, 75 of them being the new BMW X1. By the end of the year at Lepzig will be built 300 BMW X1 per day.
Six engines will be available for X1, the most powerful is xDrive28i, six-cylinder, 258 hp, reaching 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, top speed set to 205 km/h. BMW X1 will be equipped with many systems and accesories like EfficientDynamics, three-point inertia-reel seat belts, adaptive Brake Lights, daytime driving lights, panorama glass roof, adjustable rear-seat backrest, head, frontal and side airbags and more. Baggage compartment from 420 liters to maximum 1,350 liters.
As I said the car will be officially introduced on October 24 at Frankfurt Auto Show. The price may be between 30,000 and 35,000 euros. Check out the BMW X1 list of prices for more informations.
