It was known for a while now that the 2009 model BMW Z4 will come with the award winning 3.0-liter twin-turbo engine, but apparently now it’s being speculated that the M version of the Z roadster will receive BMW M3’s V8 4.0-liter engine. The regular Z will be powered by the twin-turbo 3-liter engine, but an updated version, which is currently found in the BMW 3-series and the one in the new BMW 7er. The N54 will outoput 326 hp, which is approximately 20 more than the current one.
The 2009 BMW Z4 will be released in Europe with an entry level four-cylinder engine, allowing BMW to compete pricewise with other european roadsters. As we’ve said before, the BMW Z4 is set to be unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November this year. As for the BMW Z4M, the model is rumored to be launched at a certain point in 2010, probably as a MY2011, but things might change until then.
